    Hey You: Live Earth Calling

    Pssst... Hey, you. Yeah. You.

Did you hear? Live Earth just went Hulk, grew four sizes, turned a serious shade of green.

You don't know about Live Earth yet? Well, you picked the perfect day to find out!

Today the Live Earth website kicks off a ton of new content and tools, featuring an exclusive new Madonna track, free for download! That's the truth. Madonna is giving away her new Live Earth theme song, "Hey You," in order to get your attention. Do we have your attention? Excellent. This is important.

Live Earth, as MSN editorial director Mark Pawlosky points out in his inaugural column, “is a user-friendly, green-tinged site wrapped around one of the most ambitious music events of all time”

Want me to draw you a clearer picture of Live Earth? My pleasure! Grab the Madonna track, hit play, and picture it...

    The sun hits Australia first.

In the golden glow of Sydney's winter morning, tens of thousands of people are making their way to Aussie Stadium on buses, trains, and ferries.

In Japan, a time zone later, a similar crowd of people heads for the Tokyo Dome. There, it's summer for sound check, same as in Shanghai -- an hour further on still. As the bands appear and the audience swells to respond in China, South Africa rolls from bed. The stage crew in Johannesburg, up since dawn, slips intently into high gear. They can feel the crowds coming.

In Istanbul, Hamburg, and London, an hour or two later and a hemisphere away, the scene is replicated. Across the Atlantic, in Rio de Janeiro, we're back into winter but the crowd, the mood is the same. The percolating message does not pause for border control.

When the day is done in Sydney, July 7, 2007 is just beginning in New York. Crowded House has already played their encore in Australia. The crowd in Tokyo might be shouting a last request. Madonna's call to action echoes still from London -- via radio, by television, on the net --  drawing America to its feet before the building wind. In New York, The Police pour their music out across Giants Stadium. Applause thunders louder than possible: On this day it has traveled around the world, over every continent.

    That's how it will be.

Live Earth will last all day. That day starts now and the end is up to you. The Earth keeps rolling on and so does our need to protect it.

Billions of people will listen to music, to speakers, and to reason on 7/7/07, but the signal is already broadcasting clear.

Madonna, Red Hot Chili Peppers, James Blunt, The Police, Dave Matthews Band, Snow Patrol, Crowded House, John Mayer, Beastie Boys, Jack Johnson - these are among the men and women who call you to action. They, with Al Gore and others, form the vanguard. Together as Live Earth, we will empower The Alliance for Climate Protection, a foundation to combat the looming disaster of climate change.

In case you've been living in a cave, scientists definitively agree that climate change threatens to melt the ice caps, raise the sea levels, and create ripples of catastrophe across the planet. Imagine what happened to New Orleans happening around the globe. Live Earth aims to keep that future from becoming real. We need your help.

Visit the Live Earth site to access comprehensive information about the concerts and controlling climate change through your individual actions. Still need another reason to get involved? For the next seven days get Madonna's new Live Earth single "Hey You" for download free!

That's right! Who loves you, baby? I do.

Just don't make me choose between you and rising sea levels.

I'm not that strong a swimmer.

I didn't like the song but still think is a good cause.  I rather more "POP" from Madonna,  I don't see this song being played on the radio anytime soon.  But thanks for the thought.
